CAN THE BOOK OF MORMON BE CONFIRMED BY A FEELING? (Mormonism Exposed)

How can I know that the Book of Mormon is true?

Moroni 10:4 in the Book of Mormon says:

And when ye shall receive these things, I… exhort you that ye… ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if [they] are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth [to] you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

LDS missionaries, based on that passage, urge potential converts to ask God to confirm with a feeling the Book of Mormon is divine. Doctrine and Covenants 9:8 commands, after studying the matter out in their minds (whatever that means), potential converts, “must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause…your bosom [to] burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.” Consider four reasons why this prayer contradicts the Bible:

DOES GOD HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE? #1

Gary Friesen in his book, Decision Making and the Will of God, discusses what he calls the “traditional view” among evangelicals: God has predetermined every detail of each person’s life. The goal of prayer for guidance is not to acquire wisdom for proper decisions. Rather, it is to persuade God to reveal His ideal will. For example, imagine a seminary student upon graduation. He has opportunities to go to Africa and India as a missionary or preach for a local congregation in Los Angeles. Unlike a graduate of a preaching school or Christian college with the same choices, the Evangelical does not pray for wisdom to make a proper decision. He rather prays for God to reveal His will. Ideally, God has every detail of the man’s life mapped out. The young preacher strives in prayer to find out which congregation God wants him to serve.
