THE JOY OF EVERYDAY THINGS (Unlimited Joy)
everyday joy
Hi! Thank you so much for viewing. Poet Virginia Brasier summed up our times:
This is the age
Of the half-read page
And the quick hash
And the mad dash
The bright light
With the nerves tight
The plane hop
With the brief stop
The lamp tan
In a short span
The Big Shot
In a good spot
And the brain strain
And the heart pain
And the catnaps
Till the spring snaps
And the fun’s done.
Those who burn the candle at both ends are admired. Yet, steel magnate Andrew Carnegie observed, financial barons “seldom smile and never laugh.” Others seek happiness in power or fame. Yet, God provides joy in everyday things.
ADVERSITY YIELDS JOY (Unlimited Joy)
Over a century ago, an African farmer heard of many who discovered diamond mines and became very, very rich. He sold his farm and roamed the continent prospecting for the precious stones. After spending everything in the fruitless search, he drowned himself. Meanwhile, the buyer of his farm noticed an unusual pebble in a creek on the property. He investigated and learned it was a diamond. In fact, the farm was covered with diamonds, and he became the richest man in Africa. The original owner had acres of diamonds right under his nose. If he only had recognized the wealth he already possessed. Joy, likewise, is within reach, but we must look for it.

Joy: character growth
“Joy” often results from things like vacations, having children and grandchildren, or getting married. Yet an unexpected source of joy is sometimes-painful personal growth. But each step of character growth delivers a fresh sense of satisfaction. Esther is an example.
YOU CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS (Unlimited Joy)
Worry is the enemy of joy.
I’m Weldon Langfield, author of Joy Without Limits: Overcoming the Unhappy Christian Syndrome. Perhaps the greatest, most common enemy of joy is worry. Those who remove anxiety from their lives open wide the doors to unlimited joy.
CONQUER ANXIETY YESTERDAY (Unlimited Joy)
I’m Weldon Langfield, author of Joy Without Limits: Overcoming the Unhappy Christian Syndrome. Thanks for viewing. Isn’t it hard to imagine living without anxiety? Worries take up so much of our mental time. But that God commands us to live without worry proves that it is doable.
Fretting is harmful. The Bible says it drains energy, and thus diminishes productivity. Have you known folks who react to bad news by sleeping or throwing up their hands and doing nothing, as though the problem has rendered them paralyzed? The Bible addresses this in Prov. 24:10, “If you are slack in the day of distress, your strength is limited.”
THE JOY OF INTEGRITY
From the day Adam blamed Eve for causing him to eat forbidden fruit, integrity has not been a hallmark of humanity. Theologian J. Daniel Hess observed:
Ours is an earth with its parts in dismay. “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark,” broods the Hamlet in us. Words are made to say what they do not mean, a gesture is meant to conceal, action is formed into deception. A small box of cereal is relabeled large. Plastic is grained to look like wood. Pringles are made to crunch like potato chips.1
